By Claudio Calastri

In November 2006, was published the book by Claudio Calastri about archeology of Trebula, entitled "Archaeological map and research in Campania, vol. 3. The territory of Trebula Balliensis”. The work, printed by the Roman publishing house "L'Erma di Bretschneider", specialized in archaeological texts, collects the results of five years of research (1999-2004) by the author in the territory of the ancient Trebula, conducted on behalf of the Second University of Naples. A similar research conducted by a colleague of the author, Paola Carfora, in the territory of Maddaloni and Forche Caudine is also published in the volume. The archaeological investigations conducted by Claudio Calastri in our area involved both the urban site of the ancient Trebula Balliensis and the countryside of the ancient city, which descends from the peaks of Montemaggiore to the Volturno plain. It is a vast and articulated census that includes 238 sites of archaeological and historical interest, compared to only four known at the time of starting the research.

An overall analysis of the recognized sites, included in the broader historical framework of this portion of ancient Campania from prehistory to the Middle Ages, concludes the substantial work, which, although dedicated to specialists in the sector, is in any case widely usable by enthusiasts or simple curious about the history of their land. The book, which was officially presented in Treglia in the first months of 2007, is on sale at the best bookshops and directly at the publishing house.
