The wine
The hills in Treglia, with their altitude less than 500 m, are suitable for the production of excellent wine.
The ideal combining is with the embers meats, the game and the seasoned cheeses. The soaking is obtained by traditionals methods.
Ever since the ancient Rome's times this kind of wine is praised by Plinius the Old in his Naturalis Historia (14,69) work.
Plinius mentions the
"Trebulanum" wine that was traded in Rome in Nero's times.
During the roman Empire, it was named "the soldiers' wine" because it didn't satisfy the palate of refined drinkers of Empire but that of the soldiers.
According to Andrea Bacci, a famous oenologist in the sixteenth century, the "Trebbiano d'Abbruzzo" wine arises from "Trebulanum" wine; this is mentionned in his "De naturali vinorum historia" work (1596).
Moreover, according to some experts, the local wine "Casavecchia" arises from "Trebulanum" wine too.
Apart from this, we can certainty declare the Trebulanum wine was produced on the hills of ancient Trebula Balliensis (present Treglia) of wich territory, the ager trebulanus, corresponded with the present Pontelatone, Castel di Sasso,
Liberi and Formicola communes.
